Ashley Greywalker was born to a well off family with connections to the ruling bodies of Grey Hollow. They were a small but happy family with Ashley, his parents, and his two siblings. Things were perfect in the Greywalker household. The family never wanted for anything and family members all loved each other deeply, yet something was always off with Ashley.

As Ashley grew older it became harder and harder for him to care about anyone that was not his family. When he was a young teen, another young boy tried to bully him. When Ashley was done his parents had to pay to have the poor child put back together by clerics. It was then that Ashley learned there was something wrong with him. He despised most people other than his family.

To keep away from people he threw himself into studies. Ancient lore, sciences, and alchemy became his one true passion. His love for knowledge grew even deeper than his love for his family. Every cent he could get his hands on he spent acquired ancient tomes. One such purchase was granted him access to a dust covered library in the oldest part of Greyhollow. In the back of the library, in a bookshelf made of the strange dark stone that made the walls of the city, Ashley found the Book of Names. Upon reading from the Book of Names he found himself face to face with Tawil at'Umr. The great old one granted Ashley with a tiny fraction of the knowledge granted to it by Yog-Sothoth in exchange for a price. Tawil at'Umr granted Ashley the knowledge and the power he sought but he also took the man's eyes leaving him instead with silver orbs marked with the Black spiral of Yog-Sothoth.

Granted new magics and a book filled with the secrets of the universe but without the ability to read, Ashley was lost. In desperation he prayed to Yog-Sothoth for guidance. The unimaginable horror guided Ashley in the use of his own magics. Despite now being more or less blind he quickly found that he could ‘see’ better than he ever had before, and though he could not read a simple touch would grant him all the knowledge of any book in his grasp. He paid a dire price but gained knowledge and power he never thought possible. Suddenly the quiet life of a librarian was not enough.
