Voradale is a half-elf who is terrified of death. Specifically, the fate that comes with it, namely becoming nothing but a building block of some plane somewhere.

 History[]

Voradale had a good childhood. Born to a Human mother and an Elven father, in a prosperous trade city, he never experienced poverty or squalor. He learned of magic from his father, and took to it very well, learning to cast spells, and beginning to understand the principles behind it as well. He was always a sharp child, and it did not take long for him to grasp that he would outlive his mother by decades, if not a whole century, and his father would outlive them both by multiple centuries. This lead him to research mortality, souls, and what it meant to be a normal person, and what he found terrified him. The idea of inevitable death, followed immediately by some deity or another laying complete and utter claim to his soul was something he could not come to terms with. It was then that he decided he had to transcend mortality, and do it in such a way that put his soul as far away from any divine power as possible.

Ascenscion[]

Voradale's ascension reinforced his distaste for alien powers nad eldritch beings, as he gained his powers from temporarily being inhabited and controlled by 'the Final Shape.' This, although it made him more powerful, changed him, and forever altered his basic being.

The Rebellion[]

During the conflict against Verk's forces, Voradale mainly assisted by fighting off two attempts to flank the rebellion during the siege of the capital. One of these involved destroying an experimental tank and capturing the scientist who made it, while the other involved beating back waves of magitech enemies.

Ascenscion to Lichhood[]

Voradale had long ago decided that only becoming undead would put his soul far enough away from the gods. To this end, he set off into a lich's dungeon to take their phylactery, alongside Jovra, Rhea, and Nikita. He advertised it as the destruction of a lich, but the plan soon changed. After Philip the Dread Lich turned out to be more interested in interior decoration recommendations than expected, and a genuinely decent guy to boot, the team made peace with him. In the process, he discovered Voradale's goals, and although him making said plans clear to the group did slightly complicate things, in the end, everything was resolved on amicable terms, and Voradale learned that you can genuinely make the world a better place even as an undead.

The Winter Court Arc[]

Voradale got introduced to the Summer Court when he took part in a mission to save Winter Girl Mai's friend, Nicholas. This was also his first encounter with the Fox Council. He continued to encounter the Winter Court, including during Mara's birthday, where he participated in a no holds barred game of musical chairs, and the Winter Knight's date night, where the group was sent to find out what the Winter Knight was doing in a seedy bar, and ended up convincing him to give in to his feelings and pursue true love. In the end, they ended up fighting the Winter Knight to prove to him that they could defeat Mara and prevent her plans for the material realm. When said plans were discovered, Voradale started working on a way to fix the root of the problem, namely the eternal conflict of Summer and Winter. By marrying Mara, the Winter Princess to Tara, the Summer Princess. During the siege of Fair Maiden, he and the group he was a part of managed to eventually convince both Mara and Tara to agree to this, with Voradale himself officiating the ceremony. Although Queen Mab did attempt to sabotage this by murdering Queen Tara, the group managed to stop her, and she was convinced to stand down. This resulted in the two separate courts being merged into the Court of Seasons, and the eternal conflict ending.

New Era[]

Voradale was a prominent member of New Era while it still existed, going on multiple missions with them. He reached the rank of Lieutenant and took part in the mission to the alternate reality ruled by Emperor Voradale, a high tech universe ruled by an alternate version of himself. They were actually making progress when a weapon of mass destruction came through and destroyed the city they were in, the center of Emperor Voradale's empire. This resulted in a fight breaking out, as Emperor Voradale blamed them, but he was beaten, and the team managed to convince him to not give up after this, and they swore to find and punish the members of New Era responsible for this atrocity.

Time Knights[]

Thanks to his friendship with Rhea, Voradale has had quite a few encounters with the Time Knights. The first one was specifically to help Rhea, where they had to defeat a warlord pulled into our timeline by some nebulous entity, and the other one was a mission to destroy Dingo's robot factories in the reality where he won. Both were a success. He was also present for the final defeat of Dingo, and thus the final battle for the Tower of Time, becoming an official ally of the Time Knights in the process.

The Towers[]

Voradale was there for the defeat of the Red Queen in the final battle for the Tower of Necromancy, and for the defeat of Dingo in the final battle for the Tower of Time

Miscellaneous Missions[]

  • The Codex of Infinite Plane's: Voradale helped Xerxes find and take the Codex of Infinite Planes from a Titan, alongside Jovra and Turin. They were all given a chance to gain one of the books powers by Xerxes afterward as long as they had the knowledge to never incur the horrible consequences of misusing its power, and after Voradale ensured he was skilled enough, he managed to gain the ability to cast Gate at will.
  • Voradale and a group of adventurers took up a mysterious man on his offer of a game, and fought him in a demi plane. Afterwards, they each got a draw from the Deck of Many Things, and because Voradale offered to undo any unsavory draws, he was permanently cursed by the gods of fate
  • Voradale helped Jovra reclaim his souls, although he didn't really approve of the way Jovra treated the children whose souls he reclaimed.

Appearance[]

Voradale is a half-elf with black hair and green eyes on the surface, but below his Daywalker, he is an animate skeleton, with his bones surrounded by complex arcane equations designed to keep the magic the Codex of Infinite Planes bestowed him with stable.

Personality[]

Voradale is actually a rather nice person, especially for a Dread Lich. He prefers to resolve his conflicts without violence where possible and has been rather successful in that. On the other hand, he has a decided dislike of divine forces, as he views them as complicit in everything that's wrong in the world, and uncaring of the lives in the universe. He even views the traditionally good deities with heavy suspicion and dislike. Although he does not hate them as much as he hates abominations.

Friends[]

Voradale has a decent collection of allies. of special note are:

  • Xerxes Blackfrost - One of Voradale's oldest allies, they have gone on many adventures together, including into a secret demiplane to retrie the Codex of Infinite Planes
  • Rhea the Merfolk - Rhea is also one of Voradale's longtime allies, having been there at his ascension to Lichhood. Voradale also helped her out on one of her tasks for the Time Knights
  • Nikita Lifetouch - Nikita was also there at Voradale's ascenscion, and besides being long time friends, they have fought many great battles together, including the Time Tower
  • Jovra Inelogus - Jovra taught Voradale many of the spells he knows, and allowed Voradale to study at his library. He was also there at Voradale's ascenscion, and Voradale helped him reclaim some of his soul.

Enemies[]

The entire pantheon of fate, who cursed him to be forever vulnerable to curses because he cheated at a Harrow Deck to ensure he and his allies got favourable draws.
